We all live busy lives where we have a lot of tasks we need to accomplish, places we need be, and things that you actually want to do. Throughout the years, I noticed that there a some things that have helped me become more productive and get things done. Doing these things often allow me to have more time for other tasks and things I want to do. I hope that these ideas help you become more productive and accomplish your goals and allow you to have more time for the things you love.
For those who have read my blog before, I am a fan of planners and making lists. Whether you create a list on your phone or you actually write stuff down it is important to keep lists of the things you need to do, buy, or upcoming events. I find it easier to get things done when you have lists, because you can check off things as you accomplish them and you have a visual of the things you need to get done.
For example spending a few minutes making a grocery list before going to the store will save you time and money, because you know what you are going to get, you are not going to waste time looking for things you don’t need. I find that having a list helps me be in and out of the store.
Review Your Schedule
As someone who lives by their schedule and planner, I make sure to look at my week schedule every Sunday to see the things that I need to get done that week, along with checking the schedule daily at night to be prepare for the next day. I manage several schedules, planners, calendars, schedule applications on my phone, and at work I use a work calendar and Jira to see the tasks that I need to work on and the ones that are in process.
Many of you might not need to have 5 different calendars or schedules, but it is important to review them in order to make yourself aware of what you need to accomplish that day or that week. Reviewing your schedule can help you manage your time to get things done before the deadline, plan for events, and make any necessary arrangements to accomplish your goals.
I know a few people that they still go in to pay their bills to department stores, and while it works for them I often don’t have time to do that. Automating is a great way to save time and energy, plus you know that everything will be paid on time so you don’t have to worry about that car payment on the 15th. So sit down look at your finances and bills and set up automatic payments, you will be more organize and your bank account will thank you for not having to pay that late fee because you forgot to pay your electricity bill on time.
Set Up Routines
Routines aren’t the most exciting thing to take on, but they can really help our productivity level. Setting up a routine can be the best approach to simplify your schedule and accomplish some of your tasks. Once you have establish your routine, start working on another one.
Easy routines that you can set up to make your life easier are meal prepping every Sunday, Laundry schedule, Cleaning schedule, etc.
Learn To Say No
Being able to say no it’s something that people have to work hard to get used to. I know that I have been guilty of having a full schedule and someone asks me for help and I won’t turn them down. Even though I should have, I felt bad and often had to deal with being super busy while accomplishing my tasks and the tasks that I might have promised to help with. Although, saying no might be hard it is something we have to do in order to be productive. If something does not align with our priorities or we simply don’t have time or don’t want to do it, we need to say “no”.
