I found out about the Portland’s Winter Light Festival about a month ago and made sure to put it on my planner as something to check out in February. The Portland Winter Light Festival was powered by PGE renewable energy and it was a free outdoor event hosted by OMSI. Adam and I took the MAX into town and it dropped us off right at the event. I was pretty excited about taking the MAX because we were going to be able to go over the Tilikum Crossing, which is the newest bridge in Portland.
The Portland Winter Light Festival was a 4 day event offering 26 light installations all around OMSI and surrounding areas. Also during those 4 days there were a few affiliated events around town.
“Building facades glow with animated projections, light dances on the water of the Willamette from bridges above, galleries and storefronts are filled with glowing art installations, parks are brought to life with spectacular lighting, and performances fill the night air with excitement and whimsy.”
We got to walk around the event and enjoy all the art installations. It was a good way to spend a couple of hours outdoors.
