Lavender fields all over Oregon began blooming mid-June into July, and with that the annual Lavender Festivals are beginning to pop-up here. Today Adam and I visited the Helvetia Lavender Festival, and we had a great time. I love going to farms and doing the U-pick activities, at today’s event they were offering U-pick lavender for $7.00 per bunch.
The Helvetia Lavender Festival is put together by Helvetia Lavender Farm, a three day event featuring all things lavender, with 20 artisan booths, and workshops. Admission to this family friendly event is free, and the festival supports widows in Ukraine through Samaritan Ministries in the Ukraine. As soon as you walk in you are able to smell the fragrance of the lavender plants. I have been wanting to attend a lavender festival for a while, Oregon has several of them and luckily this one is super close to home. We had really nice weather so we walked around and took a look at all the different vendors, bought some delicious lavender lemonade, and I ended up buying headbands from a local artist. (one featured in the photos above).
Before heading home I decided to pay to do the U-Pick in order to take some lavender with us. Ended up getting a lavender bunch to decorate our living room. If you are interested in attending this event next year please note that although it is family friendly, this event does not allow dogs due to the type of insurance the farm has.
