I’m not the type of person that counts calories, or thinks twice about having a slice of pizza. I enjoy food and I eat what I want, sure I try to be healthy but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying certain foods. A week ago I asked Adam what app he was using to track his calories, and he mentioned “Lose It” so I figured I would download the app and give it a try. I restricted my calorie intake for the whole week and was very strict about following my plan, and it made me realized how carefree I normally am with what I eat. Sure I have a high metabolism, but still as we get older that metabolism slows down.
Lose It is pretty simple to use and what I liked about it is that it syncs with other apps (Fitbit, MapMyRide, etc.) I use, and to make things easier it syncs with my scale, so I don’t really have to worry about inputting my weight every morning. You can upgrade your account to a Premium version that let’s you do meal planning for the next day, and you are able to add more insights and goals to your profile. I really liked that it was very easy to add ingredients together to make recipes, as we usually try to make our meals at home. Other calorie trackers have similar features, but I feel like they’re usually pretty clunky.
Overall this whole experience made me work for my calories, I went for a walk almost everyday at lunch, made more effort in staying active through out the day and used the vibration plate we have at work on my breaks. Although, I don’t plan on keeping such a restricted diet plan in the future, I do like the idea about being more conscious about my calorie intake and maybe saying no to that slice of pizza once in a while is not so bad after all. This week might not have been my favorite week as far as not eating my usual snacks, but I had some amazing meals, and in the end I saw results in just one week.
