Believe it or not, we have been slowly packing our apartment, but yesterday we finally called the PODs company and scheduled our POD to be delivered on Tuesday. We are officially beginning the first steps of our move to Portland. Everything needs to be packed away before the end of next weekend. Not only are we packing our stuff to move to Portland in September, but we are also heading out on a 28 day backpacking journey from Yosemite National Park to Mt. Whitney. About 220 miles of hiking in the Sierras.
So we have our backpacking trip in July and then we are off to Japan in August. Meaning we have to have everything ready to go once we are back from our JMT backpacking trip. We only have a few days in between trips. It is a little nerve-wrecking since I personally like to have everything ready and have enough time to do things in between, but this time is a little different. I’m sure things are going to be fun either way. I’m really excited about both of our trips, but I’m only focusing on the JMT right now. There is a lot of planning that went behind this trip, the meal preparation, making sure we did some practice hikes, and most importantly having all the permits and all the necessary gear.
I think that I will be making a few blogs about the items I’m planning on taking on the trip to maybe help others who are researching women backpacking items. There are a lot of informative sites out there, but you really have to try and test out a few things on our own. There are a few brands I really like for certain items I will be taking on our backpacking trip and might be useful for some to know why I chose those items in particular; so keep an eye out for some upcoming posts about packing for the JMT and If I have time I might do a couple of blogs packing to Japan.
