I had a really busy week and all I kept looking forward was my days off, because I wanted to spend some time outside with Adam. After our last outing to the Tree Farm, I have been more inspired to be outdoors and take photographs. There are a few hikes I want to do because they would make good practice for the AT, but most importantly because the views would make amazing photographs. However, the weather wasn’t what I was expecting on Sunday, so we decided to take it easy and wait to see if Monday was any better. We decided to do a local hike and cross another item on my bucket list, Pittock Mansion. Sure we could have driven there, it would only take us about 15 minutes, but hiking there would be a lot more fun. We started at the Lower Macleay Park trail head and took the Wildwood Trail, which is a 29.66 miles point to point trail. We only did 5 miles round trip of the trail which allows you to get to Pittock Mansion and back.
Once we got to Pittock Mansion there was a good amount of people walking around and taking photos of the view. Adam and I snapped a few shots of us and headed down a different trail that connected to the one we originally were on and took us back to where we had started.
It was so nice to get out and enjoy a local hike, I wish I could do this every single day. There are so many beautiful trails around here, that are literally our backyard, we should take advantage of the local outdoors.
The socks were very comfortable, and I think the liners really helped a lot. I use custom inserts in my boots, which can make my feet very hot at times, but today I was able to hike without heat discomfort. “An Ideal sock for year round comfort on the trail, the women’s Hike Light Crew sock combines breathable, temperature regulating merino with Nylon, for miles of durability. Keep your feet happy, and your adventures will always be great!”
During the JMT Adam brought his base layer and it worked out very well for him, so since we had the opportunity to go to the Icebreaker sale a few weeks ago I got a couple of things including their Bodyfit Base Layer. The nice thing about this is that is super light, soft, and extremely breathable. It’s 100% merino wool which helps keep me warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s hot, it also wicks moisture to keep dry.
