As I mentioned on my last DIY entry, my work was hosting a Pumpkin Painting Party as part of an employee appreciation activity. I have never painted a pumpkin before, only carved one. When I arrived promptly at 11 am the reception area had been turned into a cheerful art studio for us to take our pumpkins and begin our master pieces. Not only were we getting ready to have a wonderful time, but there was little competition going on. As part of the event we were competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to have our pumpkins displayed at the office entry, and the winners would receive gift cards as well. So believe me everyone got really into it. So for the past few weeks I googled, pinned, and drew several ideas, but I decided to paint a Sugar Skull like the ones that are use for Day of the Dead. (Dia de los Muertos)
My pumpkin wasn’t perfect, but overall I had a great time painting it and I would definitely consider hosting a Pumpkin Painting Party myself. It was a nice change of pace to other office parties. I really enjoyed doing something creative. As it turns out that I was not the only one with the Sugar Skull idea, as 2 of my coworkers teamed up and made a Sugar Skull Couple, which turned out amazing. I feel that everyone had a great time painting pumpkins and enjoying lunch. I hope we have more fun events like this one in the future. Today during our Staff Meeting the winners were revealed, and although a little sad I didn’t win I can’t complain because all the winners had amazing pumpkins.
